Whether you’re new to shooting or an experienced shot, Winton Castle in East Lothian near Edinburgh has a reputation for challenging clay pigeon shooting. You’ll need thousands of men – not necessarily all there by choice. The labour required to build a great castle was vast. We have no documentary evidence for the numbers involved in the first great round of castle-building in England, after 1066, but the scale of many castles of this period makes it clear why some chronicles speak of the English population as being oppressed by the castle.
Welcome to Summit Castle, a one-of-a-kind luxury log castle, which finished construction in February 2018. Set on a private 3.5 acre lot, Summit Castle is a stunning 6 bedroom, 6 1/2 bathroom mountain lodge with space for 24 and an impressive list of amenities. As you pull into the circle drive, park under the portico and walk through the double castle doors, you will be amazed at the magnificent views of the Smoky Mountains from this massive 3 story cabin! Each space in this rustic-style cabin has been beautifully designed, from the stone turret and log exterior, incredible open great room and dining area, and barn-style theater room.
If you are looking for miles and miles of layered Smoky Mountain views, this is the perfect cabin. This cabin is located in an area unaffected by the November 2016 fires. The cabin's neighborhood (multi-acre lots containing million dollar homes) and its mountain views show no signs of the fires.
This 4,570 sq. ft. Pigeon Forge cabin has enough room for multiple families and couples. The adults will be happy with the five king bed master suites with attached full bathrooms. The kids and kids at heart will be ecstatic with their sleeping options, including a bunk room that sleeps 8, several daybeds (for kids that prefer to sleep in the same room as their parents) and futons.
Located off of Wears Valley Road, you will find an entertainment paradise! This cabin offers a wide variety of amenities such as, a barn-style theater room with comfy reclining theater seats and a massive 82' HDTV, with premium cable and On Demand; Xbox One; Official Pop-A-Shot Dual Shot Basketball Arcade Game; pool table; air hockey; and multicade arcade system (containing tons of classics like Pac-Man, Galaga, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Ms. Pac-Man, etc.).
Summit Castle features a beautiful fully-equipped kitchen with natural-wood cabinets and granite countertops. Feeding a large group is a breeze with 2 ovens, 2 built-in microwaves, 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, pots and pans, cooking utensils and ample counter space to prep. All guests will be able to dine together on the 2 large log tables, kitchen peninsula, and the covered outdoor dining table just outside the dining area.

Clay Pigeon Shooting near Edinburgh for Corporate Events, Shooting Syndicates and Stag Parties
Clay shooting at Winton is very popular team activity for stag parties, hen parties, private parties and corporate events, as well as shooting syndicates.
Note that clay shooting must be pre-booked please, and note that we usually only cater for clay groups of 10 or more (as well as larger groups of up to 40 shooters).

We’re always improving our clay pigeon shooting facilities, and now have a rustic hut for warming coffee, bacon rolls and post-shoot drams.

There was definitely a bit of healthy competition going on. The time flew by and a great morning was had by all. Winton is a beautiful estate and to experience it in its autumnal glory was wonderful.

The purpose-built shooting stands are located in our private woods adjacent to the castle. They have been carefully designed to cater for all abilities (despite their fearsome names!): Pigeon Pair, Whistling Woodcock, Running Rabbit, High Pheasant, Towering Teal and Exocet.
Clays can be adjusted to provide both easy and challenging shots to develop and test your shooting techniques. Note that we use low recoil cartridges to reduce the kick back from the gun.
Typical options are three to five stands over a 1-1.5 hour period with lunch and the option of additional activities. All Clay Pigeon Shooting sessions start with some practice shots, then into competition mode. /game-pigeon-9-ball-win-on-break.html. Prizes are awarded for both winners and losers!
Bacon rolls on arrival and drams on departure are an option (at a small additional cost).
