Pigeon Forge Half Marathon, Relay, and 5k

Date, Time, and Place: December 12, 2020.
Half Marathon and Relay start time 7:00 am. 5k start 7:10 am. The time limit for the half marathon course is 3 hours, 30 minutes. Please note that due to terrain and location, this is not a walker-friendly course.

Registration & Entry Fees (NO REFUNDS AND NO BIB TRANSFERS - NO EXCEPTIONS): Please note that volunteer and membership coupons are not allowed for this event! The decision to eliminate coupon use at the Pigeon Forge Half Marathon and 5k was discussed and approved by the KTC Board of Directors. The Pigeon Forge Half Marathon and 5k are KTC's premier fall event and eliminating coupons will help cover event costs including athlete amenities. KTC Members still receive a $5 discount and teams of four or more will receive a $5 discount by signing up as a group. Additionally, anyone choosing no shirt will receive a $5 discount. We appreciate your support of this decision as KTC staff and organizers want to continue this event in the future. Questions? Please note: There is NO late registration for Relay teams. Organizers will offer race day packet pickup for relay but there will be no relay registration available. No exceptions. There will, however, be late registration for the Half Marathon and 5k.

Team Competition: Only the Half Marathon is on Grand Prix Team Competition schedule.

Awards: Awards for both the Half Marathon and the 5k will be presented to the top 3 Overall male/female, top Masters (As defined by fastest person age 40 and above, not limited to 40-49) Grandmasters (As defined by fastest person age 50 and above, not limited to 50-59), Senior Grandmasters (As defined by fastest person age 60 and above, not limited to 60-69) male and female. Awards to the top 3 in each age group as well as Overall Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs.) and Overall Athena (Women over 150 lbs.) Age division awards for both the Half Marathon and 5k are 3 deep in 5 year increments (no runners under 15 in the half marathon). Overall winners not eligible for age division awards. Awards must be picked up during the awards ceremony, they will not be mailed. Awards are based on gun time and not chip time per USATF regulations. Half Marathon and 5k finishers will receive a commemorative finisher's medal.

5k Awards - 8:30 am.

Grand Prix Presented by Threds Points: 2019 Grand Prix Presented by Threds Points awarded. Remember, to be eligible for Grand Prix awards, you must be a member of the KTC and you must volunteer for at least 3 events.

Weather: Average high 52, average low 29. December in East Tennessee can offer balmy fall temps or a cold precursor to winter's advances. Be prepared for either.

KTC Safety Policy: KTC's mission is to encourage lifelong physical well-being through running and walking. That is accomplished through a variety of events and programming.

The Knoxville Track Club puts the safety of its participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Dangerous weather conditions pose a unique challenge to an event of any size, distance or location.

Therefore, KTC has adopted the following Inclement Weather Policy: /vr-adventure-game-pigeon-forge.html.

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these conditions on Knoxville Track Club’s website (www.ktc.org), as well as through other available means of communication such as e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and public address announcements.

The Executive Director and Race Director in consultation, when available, with law enforcement, fire/EMS, other medical officers and other officials, will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: Altering the start time, altering the course, or in extreme situations cancellation of the event. Visible lightning occurring within 30 minutes of the scheduled start will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 3 delays. Cannot delete game pigeon.

Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race or modify the course due to inclement weather. As stated on registration and race pages, there are no refunds or transfers. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by the race personnel, medical staff, fire/paramedics or police personnel.

Future Pigeon is an Americanpunk/dubband from Los Angeles, California, contemporary to the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band is composed of Eddie Rucha on bass, Brandon Wells on percussion, Lindsey Glover on drums, Jason Mason on skank guitar, Jeremy Carins on fiddle, Jeff Carins on electric guitar, Slim on trumpet and Liam Philpot on sax.

Future Pigeon are an award-winning underground band from LA; they are often associated in performances with other more famous members of that scene such as the late Elliott Smith, Smokey Hormel, Hank Williams III, and others. For example, Future Pigeon performed at Elliott Smith's memorial concert. Future Pigeon also performed a dub version of Elliott Smith's 'Waltz No. 2 (XO)' for the short film/documentary Strange Parallel.

Future Pigeon are also featured in the movie Southlander (which also features Elliott Smith, in a small role as a bus driver). The semi-fictional Future Pigeon of that film includes Beth Orton ('Rocket') as lead vocalist.

The song 'Evil' appeared in an episode of Weeds in September 2007. After the episode, the song appeared on the iTunes most downloaded list. Keyboardist, Danny Preston is now performing as Rainbow Arabia with his wife, Tiffany.

Also their song 'Gift Tax' has appeared on the video gameTony Hawk's Proving Ground.
